Dame Gillian Weir collaborated with Messiaen in performances of this nine movement sequence of ‘Meditations on the Mystery of the Holy Trinity’ (1969), a work which displays the composer’s use of birdsong and his interpretation of classical Indian rhythms. The performance incorporates Gregorian chant sung by the lay vicars of Westminster Abbey, directed by James O’Donnell.
