Pierre-Laurent Aimard performs the dazzlingly virtuosic piano part in Sept Haïkaï, the result of Messiaen hearing Japanese music and oriental birdsong. The concert ends with Boulez’s 30-minute motoric tour de force, which includes three pianos and a battery of percussion.
