Like Messiaen, the 16th-century composer Le Jeune was a textual and musical theorist as well as a composer. Messiaen’s multi-movement Harawi, for dramatic soprano and piano, is a sequence of love poems inspired by Peruvian texts, woven with echoes of the Tristan myth.
